Nagware
The free version nagged me too much, but seemed promising. So I bought the paid version. It is better, but still nags me to write a review. It works, could be better, is a nag. Suited to techies who understand the complexities of the technologies involved.
All the competing tracker apps each have their own strengths and weaknesses. This one lets you monitor multiple mobile gadgets from each gadget, and saves 3 days of data.
I am using WiFi only, with gen4 and gen5 iPods, and newer iPad. There sure are a lot of WiFi nodes in my city, which makes this app usable for me.
I would like to see more options for battery conservation, e.g. more interval options and maybe no reporting if no accelerometer activity. I wonder if the accelerometers would ever be good enough for dead-reckoning inertial navigation.
My main interest is low-budget tracking of demented but mobile seniors. I want them to enjoy pleasant outdoor walks, but be able to find them if they get lost.
If the battery lasts long enough, an iPod Touch might work for some individuals, but not all.
